11 INDUSTRY Vicsport has continued to provide support services and industry advice to Members and stakeholders including SSAs, RSAs, LGAs, universities, government agencies, leagues, clubs and associations. Advice was given on numerous topics including government relations, governance, dispute resolution, legislation strategy and member protection. MEMBER FORUM AND EVENTS SPORTS TALK FORUM AND 2017 AGM On 21 November 2017 Vicsport hosted a Sports Talk forum prior to its Annual General Meeting at the newly redeveloped North Port Oval, Port Melbourne focusing on the value of relationships between LGAs, SSAs and RSAs. The forum was conducted as a panel discussion with the following guests: Anthony Traill, Manager Open Space & Recreation Services at City of Port Phillip, Shayne Ward, Government Partnerships and Facilities Manager at AFL Victoria and Melanie Pratt, Sports Development Coordinator at City of Casey. LGA FORUMS Vicsport conducted two events in 2017/18 within the LGA Forum series. Both events were held at the State Netball & Hockey Centre and were well attended by LGA staff in a variety of roles. The Forum in May highlighted case studies and opportunities surrounding locally-led delivery of sport and recreation programs, while the June event focussed on attracting major events. Attendees at the forums included CEOs, managers and senior representatives from Victorian LGAs. SPORT FOR ALL ABILITIES BREAKFAST Vicsport partnered with Reclink Australia and the State Government of Victoria to host a breakfast to raise awareness of the AAA Play (Access for All Abilities Play) program that connects people with disabilities to local sporting opportunities. The breakfast sold out within days of promotion and featured a panel of industry professionals discussing how sports can create better systems to be inclusive of people with disability.
