On a national basis Vicsport is a member of Community Sport Australia which is national body comprising the Vicsport equivalents in each state and territory. CSA meets from time to time to develop policies and programmes for input into national policies for the benefit of all Australians. Vicsport is pleased to take a leading role in this small but important national entity as it continues to forge a relationship with the Australian Sports Commission to ensure the sport message is consistent and coherent throughout the country. One of the highlights of the year, which is detailed in this report, was the combining of the Victorian Sport Awards, a Vicsport property, with the Community Sport Awards formerly hosted by the State Government. This bigger and better than ever event attracted a wide range of guests to witness the best of the best in Victorian sport receive their Awards. The confidence of the State Government in Vicsport’s capacity to host and manage such an event is appreciated and acknowledged. Congratulations go to Vicsport Life Member Graham Smokey Dawson on his receipt of the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2017. And it is with sadness that the death of Vicsport Life Member Pam Vincent on 26th March 2017 is noted. Thanks go to both Smokey and Pam for their invaluable support over many years for the work Vicsport does.
