08 PRIORITY 1 / PARTICIPATION CALISTHENICS COMPETITION REVIEW Vicsport Participation Strategy Manager Tom Dixon and Calisthenics Victoria stakeholders, board members and coaches formed a working group to review the current structure of the competition and improve its format to create a more family friendly, balanced competition. Through focus groups, workshops and surveying over one thousand Calisthenics Victoria members, changes in scheduling and locations in competitions were made to cater for families living in regional locations. INCREASING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN SPORTING CLUBS In conjunction with VicHealth, Vicsport facilitated eight State Sport and Regional Sport Programs Project Sharing Workshops with a strong focus on boosting physical activity through unique marketing and sustainability processes. Program Managers, sporting administrators and participation managers attended the workshops and shared insights on new methods of increasing participation at their respective organisations. Case studies from the programs are currently in development and will be evaluated in the coming year. IMPROVING HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS IN CANTEENS Vicsport worked with VicHealth to support the State Sport and Regional Sport Programs to implement healthier food choices in canteens at sporting clubs. Vicsport provided one- on-one support, face-to-face meetings, phone and email support to SSAs and RSAs on how to educate canteen staff and volunteers about the ‘Traffic Light System’ which uses green, amber and red to indicate levels of fat and sugar in food and drinks, ensuring sporting clubs provide more food options in the green section for their members.
